The Fund for North Bennington, Inc. has acquired 146 acres along the shorelines of Lake Paran and Paran Creek, and east to Route 7A. Click here for a map of the Fund's land holdings in the Paran uplands.

These acquisitions were funded by two grants from Vermont’s Housing and Conservation Board and generous public donations. This project was possible only because of the cooperation of five public-spirited landowners, and through the organizing efforts of the Vermont Land Trust (VLT). All of the land is now subject to a conservation easement held by VLT.

Detailed information about the Fund's Lake Paran land may be found in the management plan, approved by The Fund after a series of public meetings and comment period. Please click here to read the 2008 management plan.

If you would like to be on an e-mail list for announcements about Lake Paran, please send us your e-mail address.

The Fund's holdings in the Paran uplands are open to the public for access on foot. At present, there are no signs or trail markers. The property is thickly vegetated in places and existing trails are intermittent at best. Please use care and consult the management plan for details. Work on a trail near the Robert Frost Stone House Museum was started in 2008 by the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps (VYCC), and The Fund hopes to bring a VYCC crew back for another week of work in 2009.
